The Appeal to Heaven flag isn't just tied to Jan 6.

It's a Christian nationalist symbol.

Christian nationalists believe that the law of the land is not the Constitution, but instead the law of God as they interpret it.

Do you see the problem with Alito flying this flag?

PJ_Evans,

@rbreich
It shouldn't be flown by any government official. And definitely not in any government building.

Remember: If markets were actually competitive, corporations would keep their prices as low as possible as they competed for customers.

Instead, the concentration of the American economy into the hands of a few corporate giants gives them the power to raise prices with impunity.

Reuters review of TX property records shows SpaceX & its contractors can be far slower to pay builders, suppliers than they are to break ground. Unpaid bills, finger-pting among contractors have led many construction-industry businesses to file liens against SpaceX properties in efforts to get compensated.

Result, several of those businesses told Reuters, is reluctance to work on SpaceX-related projects again. "If they were to call me today, I'd tell them to fuck off".. https://www.reuters.com/technology/space/musks-spacex-is-quick-build-texas-slow-pay-its-bills-2024-05-13/

Again for people (racists), complaining about falling birth rates:

The birth rate for women over 40 is not falling. The birth rate for women over 30 is not falling.

What's happening, is girls 15 to 17 are having fewer babies. Kids are having fewer kids.

Also, this is an interesting way of saying that "Teen pregnancy is down, due to sex education and contraception."

In 1991 25% of 15 year olds gave birth before they turned 21. That's bad. Now it's 6%. That's better.

Americans,

On Thursday, the will be hearing arguments where lawyers for the criminal defendant are arguing that all former presidents are forever immune from criminal prosecution for any official acts done in office.

Failure to respect the election of a new President, is the ultimate crime against the people, who are the basis of government. The President, by constitutional design, should have no role- official or unofficial-in the determination of the people's
vote. Immunity for the crimes here alleged would be most abhorrent to the Framers, because immunity would upset the constitutional scheme and aid a President in overriding the people's power over him.

The Framers would also have been appalled that Trump, despite having left office, seeks permanent immunity. As a Federalist wrote for the Maryland ratifying convention:

It seems, however, that the president may possibly be continued for life. He may so, provided he deserve it.

News is such a confused industry. In order for it to be successful, it needs the majority of people to find value in the news that it produces. Most people are not old, wealthy, straight, white, men, but most news stories are framed from that perspective, even when the framing is false and easily debunkable.

Most news rooms don't look anything close to the people that they need to buy their papers to have a sustainable business.

Failure is inevitable.

L.A. Times is a good bad example. In the 80s, they had localish editions (even if they were only a couple of pages), and the food section was large and had stories as well as ads.
Then they closed the local editions down, and started running stuff like only the people within 3 miles of Mulholland read it, ignoring the other several million residents.

"Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton began waging a grisly campaign to force Cox to stay pregnant against her will, even though her condition puts her life, her health and her future fertility in limbo. Late last week, at Paxton’s behest, the all-Republican Texas Supreme Court paused the lower court’s ruling, blocking Cox’s ability to access abortion near home with no indication of when it might issue an opinion. On Monday, her legal team at the Center for Reproductive Rights announced that Cox had decided to leave Texas to access abortion elsewhere “due to the ongoing deterioration” of her health. It wasn’t until later that day that the Texas Supreme Court finally ruled that, essentially, Cox’s abortion couldn’t be medically necessary, in part because her doctor had gone to court to confirm that it was medically necessary."
