For the first time, a newsroom outside India has gone to Mumbai's Coastal Road (MCR), an eight-lane, $1.5B seawalled superhighway built on reclaimed land along the Arabian Coast set to open next year, and documented the devastating impacts this “maladaptive” infrastructural intervention has on Indigenous Koli fishermen.

Reporting from Lotus Jetty, with words and images from Kang-Chun Cheng + visuals from @alexip718:

Just lived through my first ever 50°C HeatIndex day ever,

5 hours of which were without mains electricity due to 'load shedding', so no air conditioning, just fans.

I am so sapped of energy, and in disbelief...

Hv to go check up on the stray kittens im fostering in the garden soon, as soon I feel less weak. Already lost a handful of shade plants to the heat.

Is there any dumber than assigning nationality to historical figures who were not only born centuries before said countries and borders existed, but before the idea of "nationality" and "nation" existed?

Yes. Assigning nationality to mythical figures and mythical kingdoms.

(I really, really hate .)

Watching this made me think yet again about or rather, the profound iINJUSTICE of climate change: how the poorest - Rikshah drivers, street hawkers, labourers - suffer the most, without any accees to , outside all day, yet contribute nothing to . The impacts are so hnequal, so unfair, in micro as well as macro ways, it makes you want to screem.

Today is National Science Day in India. I learnt form a woman scientist colleague of mine who was invited to speak at an event celebrating this day that she was very unceremoniously cut-off at the 6 min mark of her 10 min speech by the master of ceremonies, while a male scientist who spoke before her was allowed to speak for the full duration AND was asked questions by the MC! So disrespectful! 😡

What's currently getting in the way of the - UK deal?

Now it seems the Indian Govt. is keen to get national insurance contributions paid by temporary staff in the UK (mainly in the IT sector) transferred back to India... the UK, of course, wants to hold on to the money even though the concerned would never receive an associated pension in the UK.

Oh dear, quiet state has been exposed... and the Indians (unsurprisingly) are not happy

has 6 mths of grain & fuel & a min. of 3 months of medicine.

In terms of water security, 9 countries in the will have extreme lvls of water stress by 2040.
But this will also be dire for , & .

What do other countries do? Educate me! :)
