Afternoon thunderstorms are a daily occurrence here on the Florida Gulf coast during the summertime & this day was no exception. These have moved offshore & will rain themselves out over the Gulf. The cloud formations with these powerful storms are always a sight to behold.
My daughter has just sent me this magical scene. I only really miss the unicorn! The image processing only consisted of a minimal brightening to be able to see the rainbow a little better. "After the rain" pictures are really something special!

I like to go out in the rain and walk along the back roads. Has such a great mood and I love the way the air smells of freshness. This was taken in our neighborhood on one of my favorite stretches of road.

Birds predict changes in weather patterns by reading the rise and fall of barometric pressure. The characteristic calls of Stormbirds (Koels) can be heard before or during storms.
Whenever I see forecasts like rain for this weekend, I chuckle (not because of the potential for death and destruction, but because of this -- fake movie prop -- book)
