Good grief. In the light of #LaurenceFox's comments on #GBNews, #Sky#News decided to do a piece on the #GenderPayGap. They had a man and woman on to argue about it.
It came out, live on air, that he was being paid and she wasn't. Sky apologised and offered her £75, the standard fee for such an appearance. Then they offered to increase it to £200, the same as they'd paid him.
My "favourite" thing about this study is the part where achaeologists who found hunting tools/weapons in women's graves assumed they were kitchen implements.
Like, "well Hans, in this woman's grave, we found what inscriptions at the time have named the Flail of Vengeance. As of right now, we are not sure to what culinary task this tool was turned, but conjecture that it was possibly the preparation of small pies."
"Heard of a cool tech-bro-weeding interview technique the other day. A male and female engineer conduct the interview session together. If, when the female engineer asks the candidate a question, he directs his answer to the male engineer, then he's out. They said it happens a lot"
Hold the British Museum accountable for copyright and moral rights infringement and the erasure of feminist poet Qiu Jin!
Recently, I discovered that the British Museum's "China's Hidden Century" exhibit used my published translations of Chinese feminist poet Qiu Jin's poetry without contacting me, and thus without any permission, credit, or payment.
Back in Berlin my daughter, 14, had the first sports lesson at a new school. Teacher, around 50, female, explained the dress code: No tight-fitting shorts, no wide necklines, girls with large "bust sizes" must wear a sports bra. Anything else would "irritate the boys". Daughter felt deeply unsettled and sexualised by that. At her Irish school last year the (male) sports teacher told the students "Your body belongs to you, you must feel comfortable."

No #woman reading this post (and perhaps only some men) will be surprised that in work on #gender in the #workplace, McKinsey found that women 'are twice as likely to be interrupted & hear comments on their emotional state' which also leads to 'a third of women who don’t speak up to share an opinion [doing so] because they don’t want to appear disagreeable'!
Anyone who thinks the work of #feminism is largely done, is (sadly) fooling themselves!
Today in Labor History October 26, 1892: Ida B. Wells published “Southern Horrors: Lynch Law in All Its Phases,” which led to threats against her life, and the burning down of her newspaper’s headquarters in Memphis. Wells, who was born into slavery, was a journalist, educator, feminist, and early Civil Rights leader who helped found the NAACP.
“Half of Mexico’s Congress is #female. The cabinet is #gender-balanced. And now, #women have won the primaries of the two leading political blocs—making it likely that this traditionally macho nation will elect its first female president, ahead of the United States…
#Mexico ranks fourth in the world in female participation in national legislatures, according to the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The US ranks 71st—just below Iraq.”
“It is illegal for women to go topless in most cities. Yet you can buy a magazine of a woman without her top on at any 7–11 store. So, you can sell breasts, but you can’t wear breasts, in America.” —Violet Rose
WOMEN AT FAULT FOR POLITICAL DIVIDE: MARRY A MAGA MAN!
Ridiculous concern trolling by The Washington Post's editors, too cowardly to put a byline for the author, really showcases how #incel grievance has become normalized.
They argue *someone will have to compromise *(meaning women) or else marriage rates will tumble. I think women may have already found their own alternative.🤔
I want to live in a world where Karen Ingala Smith does not need to compile the Femicide Census of women killed by men....
But until then, we should ensure the Femicide Census is well known & the murder of women not treated as some rare & unfortunate problem.... as the Counting Dead Women project emphasises this is a major social problem that as a country we seem to care little about.
