I think this time budgeting approach I've been using is finally going to be what helps me actually start exercising consistently.

I haven't felt great lately, but I just took 3.5 minutes off my best time on the middle 8 km of my standard 10 km walk, so I guess I'm okay after all.

Inspired by @kcarruthers , I did a Zumba routine online. I lasted 15 minutes the first day. It was so confusing because of all the steps. I did the routine again yesterday and got to 20 mins. I’m going to keep going until I can do the full 30 mins 😊 It’s fun!

my network here is fairly small but this is worth a try.
Anyone in the Quincy, Massachusetts (US) area looking for a bike buddy? 20 miles or less as a rule (for now anyways). Slow pace for sure. I work a 9-5 schedule so best to.assume weekends...

Boosts appreciated

Twice a year or so (approx every 400-500miles) I get new running shoes. This time around I’ve opted for a pair of Altra FWD Experience.

30km in and the new shoes are feeling great!

You don’t need lots of fancy kit to go running but a good pair of trainers can make a whole heap of difference!

If you’re on the and need advice on shoes (or just some new gear), ‘Love Running’ is THE place to go.

Baled out after 4k. Tiptoe slow pace of 7:21 kms but HR crept into Zone 4 (156-175) and couldn’t get it down. Felt like running through treacle. Usually that’s Z3 pace (136-155). In 20 years I’ve never been able to run Z2 anyway (116-135) - that’s brisk uphill walking only! At age 51 my max HR easily hits 195 (220- age really is a load of old bunkum - that would put mine at 169 which is z4 mid anaerobic zone! Pish! But 4k is still 4k and we go again tomorrow #running #runchat #exercise

My latest results where I just keep hitting goals. Now at my lowest weight of 192.3 lbs (87.23 kg) down from 213 lbs (96.62 kg). 7.22 inches (18.34 cm) on my waist lost as well.

I cut almost all eating out except when at work, I cook salmon and chicken mostly with rice and dragon fruit. I take my supplements and exercise 1/2 hour minimum a day but try to shoot for an hour to an hour and a half.

Tai chi, a traditional, slow-moving form of Chinese martial art, is known to increase flexibility and improve balance. Now, new research suggests it's better than more vigorous aerobic exercises for lowering blood pressure in people with prehypertension.

Squat day at the gym!

Felt really good today for having manipulated the stiff muscles in my hamstrings and lower back. Much looser and much less pain.

Really good workout even with brain fog earlier. Felt better for doing it.

I avoided it for four years, but covid finally caught me.

Seeking advice from other active/athletic folks... how long did you wait post-covid to resume exercise?

Running is the main thing I'm worried about because of heart rate, but also climbing and weightlifting. I'll wait as long as I need to... my goal is to avoid long term health problems.
