A new #fediverse tool I've been working on (please be gentle on it!): hashtag.place! It is a simple way to follow #hashtags as bot accounts, useful for ActivityPub implementations that don't support native following of hashtags, and for smaller/self-hosted instances that may not see a lot of the tagged posts from larger instances.
It's pretty simple:
Pick a hashtag you want to follow (e.g., #running)
Replace the #-sign with an @-sign and search for that user on the hashtag.place server (e.g., @running)
Follow the bot account and it will every few minutes post new posts with that hashtag seen on larger instances!
(The bots will self-delete if they have 0 followers for a few days, so don't worry if you don't like it and unfollow).
Feedback welcome for my first foray into #ActivityPub development!

One of the great things about trail running is finding these places that feel like worlds unto themselves, where one can run forever and forget the hard reality of life off the trail.
Hey there, I’m Jake from #Portland, Oregon. I’m a computer engineer who does #FPGA stuff at places that design processors.
I’m more of a lurker than a poster but I’ll try to remain interesting. I’m into photography, #guitar, #running (especially on trails), #retrocomputing, and any kind of fun hardware hacking on computers. Love my wife, kids, and dog!
The dog is more photogenic than me so I’ll leave you with a picture of her.
I’m Shauny, from the UK but we travel a lot, I’m gay, married, and in my 30s 🏳️🌈
I love technology! Used to run a small web development company but retired super early. Now I just do a little bit for charity plus hobby work (building a #DoctorWho website).
I like to try and keep fit by running and attempting to lift weights, I can sail a boat but can’t drive a car, I love TV & movies (mostly Sci-Fi, fantasy and horror). I also love LEGO and board games.
I’m gay, pro trans, pro choice, left wing, feminist, anti-capitalist & vegan. Do I just like being difficult? 😂
For all my #running friends, please support Dumb Runner, he's given me countless moments of mirth, i particually feel this one. https://dumbrunner.com/
I've recently made a lot of changes in my life so I'm not exactly sure how I'd want to introduce myself. I work remotely full time and spend a lot of time in the kitchen either #cooking or making #tea. I've practiced a variety of hobbies and have a lot of interests but my primary focus at the moment is #selfimprovement, #travelling, and meeting new people.
I was unhappy for a very long time and only recently came to terms with how deep that went. In no small part thanks to the lovely people I've met on this platform :blob_couple: I don't maintain much of an online presence anymore but mastodon holds a special place in my heart and I'd like to stay in contact with all of you. And absolutely loving cutie city's emojis :axolotl_love: :bh_flag_gay: :birb_oh_no: :blob_lampshade: :blobfox_coffee_sleepy: :frog_pansexual: :goose_bonk:
Here are a bunch of hashtags to help connect with people:
The ferns adorning this mossy tree remind me of the frilly gills of an axolotl, and I imagine this capture as the plant-axolotl Dragon of Kaiser Woods 🐉🌲
Hello I'm Nathan. I just moved to infosec.exchange from fosstodon.org.
I live in #Michigan and work in #IT. I recently got my #Network+ cert, and am currently studying for my #Security+ cert while also looking for a new job (let me know if you are #hiring btw).
Wait: slow running is a thing? Over the last couple of years, my #MultipleSclerosis has seen my running go from a sub 4-hour marathon to a very painful trudge as my leg muscles just don’t really work properly any more. I’ve learned to not mourn what I have lost and to seek the joy in what I can do. I’m still out there and I try and enjoy that simple fact, even when it’s a bit of a sorry plod. I’m not sure I’d call it ‘sexy pace’, mind. #running#runner
Mounting evidence from exercise science indicates that women are physiologically better suited than men to endurance efforts such as running marathons . . . early humans are thought to have pursued prey on foot over long distances until the animals were exhausted. Fossil & archaeological records, as well as ethnographic studies of modern-day hunter-gatherers, indicate that women have a long history of hunting game. #Food#Running#Archeology#Hunting
I'll never get tired of the sight of mist moving through the forest, nor will I tire of the blues and yellows of sunlight diffused by clouds on the horizon 💛💙💛
Trying to get back at it... #running
Anyone has tips to keep consistency and a good balance not to be always working (or thinking about work related things?)
Pup's new red collar was whipped up by me this afternoon with material and hardware that had been salvaged from broken items. The clasps and D ring came from a puppy carrier that didn't last and the material was a strap on a reusable bag with a short lifespan. Anything that breaks, if I can't repair it, I salvage whatever I can for future projects.
Quite pleased with this! A quick and satisfying make! The other day I also made a big pillow, hemmed a blanket, and I sewed a headlamp onto my waist pack belt for an upcoming race. I will still wear a headlamp but it's nice to have a backup that lights up the ground right in front of me without looking down.
I just registered to a fundraising challenge for May; I have set myself a goal of running 215km. While doing so, I'm hoping to raise 1000$ (CAD) for children hospitals in Canada.
The SickKids Foundation manages the fundraising and will give to your nearest children hospital (see the FAQ for details).
