HELP: looking for sources on fascist aesthetics. Why fascists (Nazi Germany, other fascist countries, and current fascist movements) like minimalism, Ancient Greek and Roman sculpture and architecture, and “elegant” beauty.
An oddly specific #AskFedi, but Mastodon is the kind of place where I feel comfortable making a request like this, so here goes.
My request is for a female ethicist/moral philosopher (not necessarily a current or former professional philosopher, but someone who has at least a PhD in ethics/moral philosophy) who is a trans-inclusive feminist to DM me to advise me on a moral quandary I'm having relating to reproduction (not an urgent one, I should say, not remotely). I'm at the point where I cannot resolve the problem myself, but I don't feel like any of my female friends or family are capable of the kind of perspective or moral clarity that I need here. It's quite a big ask, I know, but for the first time in my life I need the services of a professional.
Are you a developer? Do you want to help one of the most flexible, long-established and interesting Fediverse projects?
Friendica (https://friendi.ca) needs developers to help on the frontend, between the server-side PHP modules and views and the client-side HTML/CSS/Javascript aspect.
(It would also be nice if they ran their own Friendica node to help with testing.)

Would you be comfortable joining an instance that required you to provide your mobile phone number to send a code you enter during registration, knowing your # wouldn't be stored and only used to verify you are not a spammer? #askFedi#fediverse
Is there any TLD registry (not registrar) and accompanying domain name extension (.com, .net and so on) out there that’s owned by a small/independent, i.e. trustworthy business? Feels like they’re all owned by some creepy mega-corp.
.blog owned by Automattic is a decent example, though they’re not exactly very indie anymore, and have come under strong scrutiny of late. I wonder if there are even better alternatives.
We’ve lost our Laptop (M1 Air Gold) in an ICE to Vienna last Friday. Have submitted lots item reports to DB and OBB but nothing so far.
But we still get occasional FindMy locations. Always on train station, always on the move for most of the day, always different trains.
We’ve tried chasing it around, but between infrequent updates and low accuracy it’s not much we can do there. Driver didn’t know about it.
Since it’s always on trains, and always on different ones around Austria, we assume it’s with some railway employee, that hasn’t handed it over to Lost&Found? It’s the only thing that sorts makes sense, but we’re just confused tbh.
Most of Plant Science Twitter seems to be on Bluesky. What are your favorite Fediverse accounts (institutional and/or personal) for keeping up with academic botanical news? #Botany#AskFedi@plantscience@academicchatter
Looking for advice from people who use both #Mastodon and #Pixelfed - how do you use the two? Are they completely separate for you? Or do you use one to promote the other? Do you post one type of content on each? We can see the strengths and weakness of both platforms and have been kind of puzzled about how we want them each to be. Any thoughts / advice / best practices from the wider #Fediverse would be really appreciated! Thanks!
OK maybe I can try this in English too. I'm looking for a #horror#comic or short #graphicNovel that was published in the #eighties or earlier and was a graphical representation of the well know “boyfriend's death” story (Sheriff finds the girl variant) https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/the-boyfriends-death/
It was published on an Italian comics magazine in the 70s or 80s, but I'm sure it was American. I can't find the issue anymore. Anybody knows it? Boosts welcome for reach.
