I can confidently diagnose as sociopaths.

Promised therapy customers privacy...then gave their mental health info to advertisers.

Victims get less than ten bucks each.

Company made billion+ in revenue last year alone.

In a just society with good privacy laws, they'd face existential civil & criminal consequences.

Looking for psychologists on here, both researching and practicing, especially queer, disabled and BIPOC psychologists.

I’m starting out as a psychology student and would love to follow more people in the field.

Anyone around?

About Covid Conscious Therapists:

"Your mental health provider shouldn’t tell you that continuing to take safety precautions to lower your risk of infection is irrational. Anxiety and increased stress are reasonable responses (among many others) to everything that has happened in the last three years — and everything that continues to unfold."

As Jennifer Miller reports, the intense pressure placed on young Mormons to conform to the expectations of their religious community by marrying heterosexually (and refraining from all ssxual activity including masturbation prior to marriage) leads many young Mormons who know they are LGBTQ to seek "reparative" "therapy" — to pray away the gay.

Or, in the casue of "therapist" Scott Owen — to prey the gay….

Iowa Senate File 538- gender transition procedures related to minors strips providers of Medicaid funding from Sept 18 forward and doesn't allow Medicaid to be used by clients for gender affirming treatment. If a counselor has a transgender client, and has used the gender dysphoria code and many others (7 pages of ICD codes) then they will be retroactively stripped of funding. I am so angry for clients and for providers. As a clinician, I feel so mad that states are telling transgender youth in lower SES that they can't be who they truly are, and now they can't even talk to a counselor. I just can't. @socialwork @Email2TootBot

Fellow South Africans (Pretoria specifically), does anyone know of an affordable therapist, preferably around the PTA East area? If not, an affordable therapist taking online appointments? I need help, but I also need to pay for that help myself. I'm a university student, for reference, and I want to look into something, anything, so that I don't feel this out of control anymore.

Does David Brooks think nobody tries to suck it up, think positive and get over themselves before they call a therapist?

People weren't happier before WWII. They just coped by getting drunk, beating their wives, lynching Black people and, "dying in a tragic accident while cleaning a gun."

Hi, Mastodon! I am writing my thesis for my Master's in Social Work. Originally, I wanted to focus on butch women obtaining top surgery.

Now, I want to look at how the trans community navigates/negotiates/pressures the medical community into creating a more expansive view on gender and a less medicalized view of gender dysphoria. (ie, viewing dysphoria as a social problem, not psychological.)

Do you have sources? Do you know people who are involved?

Thank you for your help and/or suggestions!

LibertyForward1, to DBT

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a godsend for folks with personality disorders, and I really think just about anyone - mentally ill or not - could benefit from its concepts.

As someone who simultaneously struggles with Borderline Personality Disorder and Attention Deficit Disorder /, being able to consistently implement and maintain the principles of DBT feels like a monumental and discouraging challenge, not the least of which is the cost of attending traditional when my partner and I are struggling just to survive. And in order to become stable enough to survive, we need to develop the taught in DBT.. but we can't afford it!

My ADHD augments my BPD, leaving me with zero self-discipline. For example, I've dabbled with Duolingo and have a 42 day streak going, it's probably the longest amount of time I've maintained a healthy habit in my entire life. I need help to focus and I'm tired of being ashamed to say so.

I realize people need to be compensated for their pioneering work in behavioral therapy; but I wonder if there's some way to "open source" the teaching and practicing of DBT for people like me who otherwise couldn't afford it, and will never be able to afford it without the skills therein!

At this point I'm essentially self-medicating with cannabis most of my waking hours to cope with.. well, the shitshow that is my personal life with mental illness and the burning shitshow that is the world. I can't afford to do that long-term.

I truly, honestly believe DBT is a miracle but we need a way to share the knowledge as a matter of improving overall humanity.

Thoughts? Ideas? Slipped into a coma trying to finish this? I understand.

Can anyone recommend a good therapist for online treatment? I'm trying to research it on my own and it's exhausting. A testimonial from someone saying 'this one knows their stuff and isn't a dick/is easy to talk to' would really help. The ones I've found don't seem to offer sample sessions like other therapists. The last therapist i approached did have a sample session and was awful, so I'm wary.
