Hello! I'm a senior software developer looking for a role where I can help users succeed. I have 17 years of experience running the gamut from #Perl to #Python to #Ruby to #Go. I love to make relational databases sit up and dance. I've been in the financial and fintech space recently, as well as devprod/infra.
I'm open to full time W-2 or short term consulting.
Email me: pete@petekeen.net or DM me here if you'd to chat about how I can help.
Ok peeps, we're 4 months into 2024 and I've been without work this whole time so we're going to try this again. If you know of any senior software engineering positions that are actually being hired for, please drop them below.
I have 12 cumulative years of experience, so that shouldn't be an issue, and I know most of the languages in use nowadays well enough to be dangerous, but I am extremely proficient in TypeScript, Python, and Ruby. What I'd rather do more than anything though is have an opportunity to use Go professionally.
Tooting the horn since it's been a while: I'm the lead maintainer for the Ruby passkeys organization, and we're actively looking for help: https://github.com/ruby-passkeys#help-needed

I've been job hunting full time for 2 weeks now. It's exhausting! If you know of any place looking for a Senior/Staff Software Engineer, I have 15 years experience working with Ruby, Rails, and Javascript. More recently the Node.js stuff has been in React. I'm also interested in Rust, Go, and Elixir. Any leads are appreciated!! #ruby#rails#rubyonrails#RubyHire#fedihire#getfedihired
A cybersecurity researcher finds that 20% of software packages recommended by GPT-4 are fake, so he builds one that 15,000 code bases already depend on, to prevent some hacker from writing a malware version.
Disaster averted in this case, but there aren't enough fingers to plug all the AI-generated holes 😬
Hey, I'm blinry! I create digital tools and games, and digital art. I mostly use Mastodon to share my joy about things I learn or create. Welcome, everyone! :)
I love my communities: the Chaos community, Jugend Hackt, the Recurse Center.
The company I last worked at just laid off half of its staff, 16 people out of 32.
If you are looking for great QA engineers, great Ruby & JS/Typescript developers, please reach out. People based in North and South America & Europe, with experience working remotely.
An industry trend I'd have happily missed: Half my team and several others at Sauce Labs were made #redundant ... Including me.
I've given talks, developer tutorials, written blog posts, and played with a lot of testing frameworks. It was awesome and I'm going to miss the folks there immensely.
So now, it's time to look for my next #devrel role! I'd appreciate if anyone has any leads, tips, or suggestions. I do #Ruby for love, #TypeScript for money, I have an attention-grabbing Aussie accent and I love helping other developers learn.
I was part of the huge cuts to Shopify Logistics. If you're looking for a Staff-level Rubyist with a particular passion for full-stack contributions, I am suddenly available for work 😅 #ruby
The developer of LastLogin.io has implemented FedCM on his end, but he needs the help of a Discourse plugin developer to test the complete login pipeline with his own community forum.
I kept my twtr account for a while because brands I occasionally reach out to were still exclusively there. It’s now no longer the case so I put the account down for real :)
