🌌 On this day in 1978 the very first episode of the very first version of Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy went out on Radio 4. We can't tell you how proud that makes us.

Here's a lovely programme about Douglas and his creation, presented by his friend John Lloyd, that went out on the 40th anniversary.

For the latest episode of my podcast for @Flipboard, I interviewed Philbrook Assistant Curator of Native Art Kalyn Fay Barnoski.

Kalyn opines about #art, #creativity and #curation from an #Indigenous perspective, including so many wonderful artists to check out.

This Storyboard has the episode plus links to everything and everyone Kalyn recommended.

Two good questions this morning from Andrew Simonet. The second is one I don’t think we talk about enough: you can’t just have the greatest art from the greatest artists, without the whole cultural ecosystem that produces and nurtures them. The minor artists and the failed experiments all play essential roles too.

ARTISTS: We can ALL use this reminder! It's easy to get caught up in selling and lose sight of the PASSION. Always keep that FIRE!! Always...

COLLECTORS: You matter so much to us Independent Artists.
When you BOOST/FOLLOW or COLLECT our art, it allows us the ability to work on our craft. Priceless!

We had our first quiet Saturday in a long time. This afternoon we made some time for art and creativity! @dohappybelove did the watercolor painting and @seanbala made a long-stitch book. The inside of Sean's book was made from an old calendar that we had lying around.

It was so nice to do something creative together!

A hand holding a book with a brown binding and white and black threads in a diamond pattern. The cover is a cloth cover in black with white Rajasthani designs.
The inside of the handmade book. The scene is a vibrant, multicolored city on a waterfront with blue boats.

Last year was a time of ploughing and sowing new seeds. For a long time I'd been talking about making more out of my own creativity but I guess felt safer in editing video for others.

Around August I began building my own portfolio. It took me months to find what I feel is my voice. This is so far from done, but I'm starting to take photography clients and getting art ready to sell. I'd be honored if you wanted to have a look.

'Q&A with Matt Fraction: The Comic Book and TV Writer on What He's Learned from Letting Go As an Artist'

The 'MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS' co-creator discusses the virtue of crazy ideas, chasing right angles, and the boozy hotel bar debate that changed his life.

This is an essential read for any kind of artist, trust me.

If art does not survive; America will not survive.

Just heard a great talk about how social media is only advertisements and that it puts a pressure on artists, which is not about creativity but selling. This, according to the speaker, prevents artists from creating and causes burn out. It also leads to more generic art to hunt likes instead of the goal to create something of value.

I liked the thought and just wanted to share...

When Norman Rockwell Got Woke: The Story Behind 'The Problem We All Live With'

In the 1960s, America's most famous artist defiantly transformed himself from an inadvertent white supremacist into a radical civil rights activist – blowing up his reputation and legacy in the process, all in an attempt to atone for his earlier work.

Apple has come under fire because its iPad Pro “Crush” ad depicts the destruction of items used by artists. Now folks are saying it's unoriginal too. X user Andy Allen pointed out that it bears a striking resemblance to a 2008 commercial for LG's Renoir KC910. Here's more from @9to5Mac.

Update: Apple has apologized for the "Crush" ad, saying it "missed the mark," and scrapped plans for a TV campaign. @9to5Mac has the details.
