One day after launching Vivaldi on iOS, Vivaldi is the top iPad app in Norway and #5 on iPhones. Not a bad start at all. We are on the list in many other countries as well.
Make sure to share the great news with all your friends! @Vivaldi is now available!
News Media Scan, launched by DW in coop with @ooni allows users to check which news websites in their country / region are blocked and which are accessible.
The #WebP buffer overflow bug that caused all the major browsers to issue patches earlier this week (e.g. #Firefox 117.0.1) also affects applications built with Electron. #1Password issued an update today for their Mac build.
The CVE affects the underlying webp library, not just web browsers, so this will be an ongoing issue.
"Who uses #libwebp?
"There are a lot of applications that use libwebp to render WebP images, I already mentioned a few of them, but some of the others that I know include: #Affinity (the design software), #Gimp, Inkscape [not according to Martin Owens, see comment below], #LibreOffice, #Telegram, #Thunderbird (now patched), #ffmpeg, and many, many #Android applications as well as cross-platform apps built with #Flutter."
We are looking for a full-time Android developer to join our team in Berlin. Work in a nice team building high quality apps for ARTE, Universal Music, Deutsche Bahn and many more!
We're getting closer to Thunderbird for Android! One of our next steps for K-9 Mail is to incorporate Thunderbird’s Autoconfig mechanism. This will dramatically improve the new account setup experience.
I really like this article from Rohan D "Every Phone Should Be Able to Run Personal Website". In it, they make the convincing case that phones are perfectly capable of hosting websites and - if we want more people to escape the walled-gardens - this could be a good way to get people back into […]
Import your Mastodon content/posts into your new Calckey account.
Customisable notification sounds
You can add more than 4 links in your profile.
Quote-replies! And if it's done and viewed within Calckey, the quote-reply is displayed within the original thread, too! Great way to keep context!
Better polls
You can attach more than 4 images (but only the first 4 will appear in mainline Mastodon, that is a well-known limitation of mainline Mastodon for years).
(I wonder, how good can a terminal emulator write a #introduction)
Hello! I am a #terminal emulator and Linux environment for #android, powered by over 5k packages installable using apt/pacman, and the best part of it all, i am #opensource on https://github.com/termux

:mastodon: The brilliant & hard-working 16-year old Lucas @moshidon is doing a great job building a fun and innovative fork of the #Mastodon#Android client.
💡 Take a moment to download and try it out, and if you can, toss him a little money to support & encourage his work!
Ok, after a few days with a pre-production version of the @murena 2, here is my first impressions video!
It’s a solidly built device, running @e_mydata, a degoogled, privacy focused #Android ROM based on Lineage, and it has privacy switches to physically disconnect the camera and mic, and shut down the network.
#TMobile USA sends mobile phone usage data to #PushSpring, which T-Mobile acquired in 2019.
T-Mobile assigns a unique ad ID to your cellphone and gathers app usage data.
To opt out and remove all data of you, there's an app - "magenta advertisements platform".
For me it's horrible that they do so without telling and that the app is somewhere hidden - no one would come up with that name!
Bon.
If the survey I did on Mastodon is anything to go by, most people do not.
2% Want AI in their browser.
25% Want AI in their browser, if their data is not used for other purposes, such as ads and profiling.
73% Do not want AI in their browser at all.
575 entered the poll.
A lot of browser companies are now pushing AI in their browsers.
I guess the 2% have a lot of browsers to choose between.
