"You go talk to kindergartners or first-grade kids, you find a class full of enthusiasts. They ask deep questions. They ask, "What is a , why do we have , why is the round, what is the birthday of the , why is ?"These are profound, important . They just right out of them.You go talk to 12th graders and there's none of that. They've become .Something terrible has happened between kindergarten and 12th grade."

A newly released collection of maps show how much land in US cities is used as parking lots.

According to The Parking Reform Network, Wichita KS is 35% parking lot while Las Vegas, NV is 32% and San Bernadino, CA is a brain-melting 49% parking lot.

Imagine the possibilities if people decided to take back most of that land from empty parked cars and use it for housing and green space instead? 🌳 🚶‍♀️ 🚴 👨‍👩‍👦 🌲

One of our favorite things about Mastodon is the huge presence of members interested in the environment and climate change.

Here are just a few of our favorite green voices:

@kathhayhoe is a climate scientist

@breadandcircuses focuses on the "distraction from what's REALLY happening"

@Ruth_Mottram is a climate scientist

@gwagner is a climate economist

@Brad_Rosenheim is a climate scientist

@gerrymcgovern focuses on e-waste

Last night, a dream came true - I saw and captured the Aurora Borealis (aka Northern Lights) over Rhossili Bay. I've had this location in mind for years if the conditions were right. And last night it happened!

have a skewed understanding of the effects of installations because the more positive studies are often behind paywalls & under-appreciated while the 'grey literature' which is more widely available is also often more negative.

This interesting research into the availability of research & how this effects conclusions about policy direction, has much wider implications for than just the energy sector.

People look for silence and tranquillity. Some will find them in meditation, others, in walking, sport, yoga or music. Photographing plants is a meditation for me. I am particularly close to absolute silence and detachment from reality when I look into the world of plants through macro lenses. This is the only time when I don’t hear my thoughts.

Hotels along the coastline have a room mysteriously unbookable. If you pay a price, you can enter & see that it is dedicated to the queen.

If you wear her colour, green, you will become her sacrifice.

She goes on: 'So that is to my mind the number one priority for this COP, is to recognise that business as usual has to be dropped'!
