Quote from an interview with Dr. Asad Khan, talking about Long Covid:
"We worship exercise, and exercise is good for most people, but when you have a post viral illness, it is the worst thing you can do ... and this is not really well known.
So there are other illnesses for example like M.E. (myalgic encephalomyelitis), Long Covid, and Lyme disease, for example, where if you make people exercise they only get worse."
my network here is fairly small but this is worth a try.
Anyone in the Quincy, Massachusetts (US) area looking for a bike buddy? 20 miles or less as a rule (for now anyways). Slow pace for sure. I work a 9-5 schedule so best to.assume weekends...
Several of them will be done in a chair. Some standing & others are laying down. I don't see many exercise vids made by & for #disabled folks available online. I got frustrated, trying to find exercise vids, made by fellow disabled folks.
So, I'm going to stop complaining about lack of them. I'll start to create them, myself.
People in the oldest stage of life who regularly engage in aerobic activities and strength training exercises perform better on cognitive tests than those who are either sedentary or participate only in aerobic exercise.
The study found, in line with previous research, that sleeping between six and eight hours per night and higher levels of physical activity were linked to better cognitive function.

My doctor told me that sitting at a desk all day was slowly killing me. So I purchased a standing desk adapter. Then my doctor said I ought to take better care of my feet. So I purchased a massaging foot mat to go with my standing desk. Now my doctor says that I need […]
'New research finds that undertaking structured dance of any genre is generally equal and occasionally more effective than other types of physical activity interventions for improving a range of psychological and cognitive outcomes.'
How does one start a new exercise routine in their late 40's?
I have a mental block with exercise. My mind still wants to believe I'm in my 20's and wants to push my body hard. Meanwhile, I get scared I'll overdue it and end up doing nothing.
I've never been a fan of running for the sake of running. I do have a spin bike that could be used for more than clothing storage.
How can we safely transport kids to school while reducing #pollution, promoting #exercise, boosting confidence, and building strong #community bonds? 🌲🚸🌳
In #Glasgow, #Scotland, #children ride to #school together in a bike 'bus' or 'train' – a group of young commuters guided by #cycling parents and teachers. 🚴♀️🚴🚴♂️💨🍂
Nice 9.2km run this morn after checking, IDing and releasing my mothological visitors overnight.
This one is stumping me and I am 70-30 torn in favour of Oak-tree pug vs Brindled Pug.
Two humans and two AI apps have suggested both, and my own research is inconclusive. But pale marking near the distal spot + wing shape bend me more towards Oak-tree.
Electric vehicles are making an increasingly bigger dent in oil use, both globally and in Australia. In 2022, they displaced the use of 1.5m barrels of oil a day. Daily global oil demand is around 97m barrels, so there's a long way to go.
But it is not electric cars doing most of the work. It is e-bikes and mopeds. These #micromobility devices are ten times as common as electric cars globally (led by widespread adoption in #China), and twice as popular as e-cars in Australia. In 2022, electric micromobility devices globally displaced more than four times as much oil as electric cars.
If you've never tried one, consider giving it a go. Most bike shops will give you a free test ride. Personally, getting an #ebike has been one of the best decisions I've made in the last few years and has been one important way of maintaining our household record of never having owned a car.
