PeerTube, the Fediverse's alternative to YouTube, is normally associated with video. However, you can also upload audio files directly to PeerTube. It will accept lots of audio formats including .mp3, .ogg, .aac, .flac, .wma etc.
You can optionally upload an image file as a thumbnail. If not, audio files will show a black screen by default.
If you're looking to share music, podcasts or other audio on the Fediverse, you might want to sign up on a FunkWhale server.
Funkwhale is a free open source audio platform featuring channels that can be followed from Mastodon etc. You can sign up on servers or start your own.
Fun random fact: the sample rate of Audio CD format is 44100Hz. The Nyquist frequency for audible sound is roughly double the upper limit of human hearing, which is 20kHz.
So why is the CDDA sample rate more than 40kHz, but only a little bit more?
The prime factorization of 44100 is 2^2•3^2•5^2•7^2, which gives a LOT of options for computationally cheap downsampling and playback speed reduction. 😁
Not sure whether this has been already brought up here but someone has created an #Accessibility assistant app for the VoiceMeeter application for Windows. VoiceMeeter is a bit like Audio Hijack for Mac where you can chain different inputs on a virtual soundcard, let it run through different outputs and route the audio of other programs to it just like you could with a physical mixing board. Currently I have set it up so that my microphone runs through it as well as any other app i route to it and it is all played both for me on my headset and to the world wherever I decide to stream it. The microphone is muted on my end so that I don't have to hear myself but others can hear me still. It is early days and many options aren't supported by the accessibility addon but the fact I could create an optimal config for myself is already great. Let's tell the dev how important their work is, send feedback and suggestions. Happy testing! https://github.com/onyx-and-iris/nvda-voicemeeter ##Blind#ScreenReaders#A11y#Audio#Radio
I'm interested in #art, #audio, #musicproduction and #gamedev among other things. Looking forward to see familiar and new faces here, feel free to ask anything!
Hey! Do you need any #audio work for your #music or #podcast ? Did you know that I am an accomplished audio engineer, and I'm more than happy to mix or master your project? I'd also love to record/produce your work if you're local!
Available for audio work, guitar overdubs, or songwriting.
Hi! It's your daily reminder that this talented audio engineer (me) can help you with your audio. I can provide mastering services for your music, podcast editing and consulting, and sweetening the audio tracks in your video projects.
I see lots of people releasing videos with audio that doesn't play loudly, and consistently, and needs help in general. I can fix that.
A collection-in-progress of online stores offering music in high quality, accessible, and permanently ownable formats. Say no to DRM'd music!! :dancekirbyheadphones:
:opensource: 👂🏽Do any #OpenSource#audio geeks know of tools for #Android (especially) and/or #Linux that can set separate equalization for each ear?
:covid19: Because of #COVID, I have #hearingLoss in my left ear and I would like to boost higher frequencies to get it somewhat equal.
:boost_love: Thanks for any ideas. Please boost if you have audio-smart followers that might have ideas for me, and please wear a mask so this doesn't happen to you.
Are there any audiobots on here? I'd like to turn longer posts/threads into audio mini podcasts. I see them on the other site just wondering if that's possible here. TIA. #Audio#Audiobot#accessibility
This is for anyone who is into #Radio#History I’m looking for good archives of radio news from the 1930s particularly from places such as what was then known as Czechoslovakia, Norway, Finland, Poland and anything else.
I’ve got a bit from Germany but what I really want is full length broadcasts, not 20 minute compilations of little tiny clips, I hate that stuff.
I want to be able to download these as well. New #Audio#AudioHistory#WorldWarII#OldTimeRadio
The laugh track was once a standard feature of every TV comedy, but it may now be on its final chuckle — the last major show that used one was "The Big Bang Theory," and that finished in 2019. The Atlantic's Jacob Stern writes about the half-century history of the audio irritant, which actor David Niven once called “the single greatest affront to public intelligence I know of,” and whether we'll miss it when it's gone. "For all the ire it incurred, for all the bad jokes it disguised, the laugh track was fundamentally about reproducing the experience of being part of an audience, and its decline is also the decline of communal viewership," says Stern. What's your take on the track? [Story is paywalled]
